Figure 2: Simple linear models, simple mediation models, and moderated mediation models between poststress traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and suicide ideation through depression, as a mediator, and thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness as moderators. *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.00. Figure 2 was based on the model 10 in the guidebook of PROCESS, the conceptual diagrams and statistic results of the moderated mediation analyses between male (left) and female (right) soldiers. The simple linear models (A1, A2) present the total effects of PTSD on suicide ideation. The simple mediation models (B1, B2) present the effect of PTSD on depression and the effect of depression on suicide ideation. The moderated mediation models (C1, C2) present the moderation effects of both two moderators, perceived burdensomeness and thwarted belongingness, on the effect of PTSD on depression and that of PTSD on suicide ideation.
